The Shoop Shoop Show

Cher, recognized for her distinctive contralto singing voice and for having worked in various areas of entertainment, as well as continuously reinventing both her music and image, has led to her being nicknamed the goddess of pop.

Cher became prominent in 1965 as one-half of the folk rock husband–wife duo Sonny and Cher with their hit “I got you Babe”. The Sonny and Cher comedy hour was an immensely popular TV series in the 70’s and Cher became a fashion trendsetter with her daring outfits.

She established herself as a solo artist with successful singles such as Bang Bang , Gypsys Tramps and Thieves, Half Breed and Dark Lady.

In the 1980s, Cher pursued an acting career. She appeared on Broadway in Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean in 1982.

She continued to earn the respect of movie critics and fans alike thereafter by turning in a number of strong film performances, including  Silkwood (1983), Mask (1985) and Moonstruck (1987). Cher received her first Academy Award nomination for her performance in Silkwood and won her first Oscar (best actress) for her performance in Moonstuck.

At the same time, she established herself as a rock singer by releasing platinum albums such as Heart of Stone (1989) and top-ten singles such as "I found Someone and ”If I could Turn Back Time". . She reached a new commercial peak in 1998 with the song Believe. .

Cher returned to film in the 2010 musical Burlesque .

She is one of the Best selling music artists of all time and has sold more than 100 million solo albums and over 40 million records as Sonny & Cher worldwide. She is the only artist to date to have a number-one single on a Billboard chart in each of the past six decades

Suzie Lee portrays Cher and THOSE 60’s Diva’s in “The Shoop Shoop” Show. I became a huge fan of Cher’s music .  Suzie says-  “I am also a contralto so that made singing her songs a little easier. I can’t imagine someone singing Cher’s material without the deep vocal tones that she has – It just wouldn’t sound right”.

I love portraying Cher on stage, it is so much fun. You can’t go past those other 60’s Diva’s though – Dusty Springfield, Sandy Shaw, Nancy Sinatra “it’s all great music”- says Suzi.

Suzie Lee developed her career as a successful session and back up singer but It wasn’t long before her talent bought her to the front where she featured in “Legends in Concert” as Cher in the “Sonny and Cher” segment of the show.

She developed the character so well that “Cher” became her forte, resulting in the lead role of her own shows – “Turn Back Time” and “The Cher Experience“. Suzie headlined at venues across the nation and supported the Drifters for their Australian Tour.

Suzie was selected as one of the “Top 6“ Australian Tribute acts to be featured on “The Big E” TV program in the UK along with Bjorn again and the Beatnix and was voted Europe’s most popular Cher tribute act.
